When you plug an appliance into an outlet, take note of the outlet itself. Normally, the inside should be secure. If it isn’t and if the outlet is moving around, then you may want to safely pop it open to find out what’s going on or call an electrician if you’re unsure how to do this safely. Loose outlets may not be indicative of a larger problem. But what you can count on, though, is that a problem will arise from a loose or shaky outlet that goes untreated.

As the outlet wiggles, the wires will shake free. When this happens, sparks and shorts occur. To keep potential fire hazards off your hands, make sure that all of your electrical outlets are secure.
